Team Connections

The Team Connections (or Team Referrals) feature creates an extended network from the LinkedIn connections of your non-recruiter teammates. You and your recruiters can then use SeekOut to filter this network and find candidates.

What is Team Connections?

The Team Connections (or Team Referrals) feature creates an extended network from the LinkedIn connections of your non-recruiter teammates. You and your recruiters can then use SeekOut to filter this network and find candidates.

With Team Connections, you create a referral link and share it with your coworkers. Your coworker clicks the link, enters their email, then downloads and runs the Chrome extension.

The extension opens a new window to the coworker's list of LinkedIn connections and compares their most recent 1000 connections to SeekOut's profile database. When a match is found, SeekOut tags the profile in SeekOut with the coworker's name and email address.

  • No login information is shared with SeekOut while using the extension.

  • The extension will not make any changes to your LinkedIn account.

  • Once you successfully upload your connections, you can uninstall the extension from your browser.

  • The Team Connections extension works on Chrome and Chromium-based Edge. Ensure your browser is up to date before installing the extension.

How do I access Team Connections?

Team Connections is currently available to select SeekOut plans. Please contact your Customer Success Manager if you're interested in using Team Connections in your organization.

Manage Team Connections

As an administrator, you can manage team connections. An administrator can create referral links, create and edit teams, and decide who can see tagged profiles in the Team Connections tab.

Click your name at the bottom left, and select Team Referral.

Managing Teams

Choose a team from the dropdown menu to open the team referrals management page, or click Create New Team to create a new team.

Creating Teams

Click Create New Team, and type the name of a team within your company (such as Engineering, Customer Support, Marketing, Product, etc). Click Save to create the team. 

The team management page will automatically open after creating a new team.

After you create a new team or select an existing team from the dropdown menu, the Team Referrals management page opens.

Select a team from the SeekOut Referral Teams dropdown menu to manage that team. Each team has two sections: Recruiters and Connections.

Recruiters

The Recruiters section displays the recruiters assigned to the selected referral team. A recruiter can only see matched candidates in the Team Connection tab if they have been assigned to a team.

Click Add Recruiter to assign a recruiter to the team, and click the three-dot menu next to a name and select Remove to remove a recruiter from the team. You can assign a recruiter to multiple teams.

Note: Only users with an active SeekOut license in your organization can be added as a recruiter.

Connections

When a coworker has uploaded their list of connections, their information will be listed here.

  • Email- the email address your coworker entered when they ran the extension.

  • Name- the coworker's name.

  • Status- describes if the upload is complete, in progress, not started, or if there has been an error.

  • Count- how many connections were matched and tagged in SeekOut (up to 1000).

  • Date added- when the extension was run and their connections scanned.

Each team has a unique URL. Click Share Link to view the URL, copy it to your clipboard, and share the link with your coworkers in that team.

When a coworker clicks on the link, they will be guided to install the Team Connections chrome extension and upload their connections to SeekOut. See the section How to Upload for more information. 

How to Upload

When you run the extension, you'll enter your work email address and click Upload Now. A new browser window will open with your LinkedIn connections. Keep the window open while the extension scans your connections list.

This process can take up to five minutes. Once the scan is complete, you can close the LinkedIn window and uninstall the extension.

View Team Connections

Click the Team Connections tab on the top of the Search page.

You will only see candidates in this tab if your account is assigned as a Recruiter to one or more teams. If your account is assigned to more than one team, use the unique Team Connections filter to choose which teams' connections to display.

Matched profiles will have a line labeled Team Connections. Each name next to Team Connections is a coworker who is connected to the profile on LinkedIn.

Candidates will appear in the Team Connections tab within 24 hours of being uploaded with the SeekOut Connection extension.

Ask for Feedback

When a coworker shares their connections with you, they will also provide their work email address. This allows you to email the coworker and ask for feedback on a connection.

Click on a coworker's name to send them an email. Your computer's Mail program will open with a new email draft and the coworker's email in the To field.

Why didn't all of my connections get uploaded?

The SeekOut Connection Extension scans the user's 1000 most recent LinkedIn connections. Connections older than the most recent 1000 cannot be scanned by the extension.
